How the Minervini trend template works
Mark Minervini described a trend template of seven conditions that help identify stocks in a constructive long-term uptrend. InvestorWaves scores those checks on completed daily prices: price versus the 150-day and 200-day averages, the 150-day versus the 200-day, a rising 200-day average, the 50-day above both longer averages, at least 30% above the 52-week low, and within 25% of the 52-week high.
Passing the template describes trend quality. It does not grade fundamentals, volume, or whether a stock is a buy. Use Stage Analysis if you also want the Stage 1–4 classification and relative strength.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Minervini trend template?
The trend template is a set of seven objective market-trend checks popularized by Mark Minervini. It looks at price versus moving averages, whether the 200-day average is rising, and where price sits in the 52-week range.
What are the seven Minervini trend template criteria?
Price above the 150-day and 200-day moving averages; the 150-day above the 200-day; a rising 200-day average; the 50-day above the longer averages; price at least 30% above the 52-week low; and price within 25% of the 52-week high.
Is this the official Mark Minervini tool?
No. This is an independent InvestorWaves implementation of the publicly described trend-template checks. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Mark Minervini.
Does passing the trend template mean I should buy the stock?
No. Passing the checks only describes trend quality. It is not a buy or sell signal, and it does not account for fundamentals, risk, or your own plan.
How is this different from Stage Analysis?
The Minervini trend template scores seven pass/fail trend checks. Stage Analysis uses the same market data to classify a stock as Stage 1, 2, 3, or 4 and adds relative strength, growth, and theme context.
Is the result generated by AI?
No. The seven checks are produced by fixed calculations on completed daily prices.
Is this investment advice?
No. The tool is for educational and informational use and does not recommend buying or selling a security.
