Muse is outpacing ChatGPT's early mobile launch.
According to Sensor Tower data, Meta's Muse reached 1.8 million U.S. and Canada iOS downloads in its first 12 days. ChatGPT reached 1.3 million over the same early-launch window.
The engagement comparison is even sharper. By day 12, Muse had 642,000 U.S. mobile daily active users, compared with 231,000 for ChatGPT at the same point.
Muse also reached roughly 450,000 U.S. daily active users by day 10. ChatGPT took 49 days to reach a similar level.
The caveat is that launch comparisons are not destiny. ChatGPT's early mobile launch came before the current AI app market was as mature, and Muse is benefiting from Meta's distribution, brand awareness, and existing consumer relationships.
Still, the data is useful for investors. It suggests that the AI assistant market may not only be about model quality. Distribution, defaults, notifications, identity, social graph, and cross-app integration can all shape adoption.
For Meta, the question is whether Muse can convert early downloads and daily usage into durable engagement, new ad surfaces, subscription revenue, commerce, or deeper lock-in across the broader Meta ecosystem.
